Eco-Wool
Some companies claim to be eco-friendly Klippan of Sweden actually walks the walk.

Ecologically produced cotton has been a common concept for many years, but ecological wool has been a rarity. The reason is that insects have been a challange with animals in wool production and until today it as been inconceivable to produce wool without any pesticides.
A group of farmers in Bank Peninsula, New Zeeland decided to address the difficulties of Eco sheep breeding. They have developed a process where they only treat the sheep with pesticide once, instead of repeatedly as had been practiced before. They give this treatment when the sheep is newborn which leads to no or negligeble amounts of pesticides in the finished wool as it grows. Additionally no cemicals are allowed to be used in the crops or in the food that the sheep eats and no antibiotiv is used during the breading process. A special washing method for the wool has been developed to again save the environment as much as possible. Finally, as a control over the entire process, an independent an accredited laboratory test approves each consignment of wool.
Bank Peninsula “ECO WOOL” is especially suitable for blankets and throws and Klippan Yllefabrik are exclusive in the market in using this material. Items with Eco Wool are specially labeled and we have also decided to make all of our children’s blankets in “ECO WOOL”
Animal welfare
We care about that no animal cruelty takes place in the production of the wool that we use. Because we control the entire process ourselves we can guarantee that no animal cruelty occurs.
Own production = total quality control
Founded in 1879 Klippan Yllefabric is a family company that has now spanned five generations. Production of our blankets and throws is in our own factory in meeting all EU standards. This allows us to totally control the quality.
A culture of Environmental awareness within the company makes us work towards a friendlier and more environmentally sustainable production process. Klippan has achieved both ISO 9001 and 14001 certification and have also imposed extremely high demands on our dying process, where most chemicals are normally used. Unusually we have decided not to use chlorine bleach, or dyes that contain heavy metals, in our production process.
